G'day
I'm new to rock crawling (read, I have no idea what I'm doing) but I've got an Axial AX10 RTR crawler and I'm looking for good advice on initial setup, things to replace or change, traps to stay out of and other helpful stuff.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

Cheers

Hi John

welcome

Basically you have to decide where you want to go and how much do you want to spend.

The first thing I would do is fit retaining rings to the drive shafts or upgrade them, axial's have a problem with damaging drive shafts.

There are several up graded shafts available.

Install front locker

What turn motor are you running?
-if it’s the standard 27 turn I would be upgrading that to a 55 turn minimum.

What speed controller are you running?
- If it the standard one, I would be up grading to a better speed controller with realy good drag brake

What servos are you running?
- If they are the standard, I would be upgrading them to 14kg Hitec

These are the mods I would be looking at doing first

There are countless other mods you can do
- Relocate battery; this will lower the centre of gravity
- Bent links; increases clearances on the links
- Droop or semi droop suspension; lowers the centre of gravity
- adjust spring rates
- replace tyres; at present I am running Panther Cougars

G'day Stika,

Thanks for your advice. I'm a real beginner athis stuff.

I've got some upgrade parts coming and the bent links and springs are amongst them.

Does brand matter when looking at the ESC and motor upgrade or just funtionality?

Thanks again.

The main thing i like is good engine braking. I am not realy sure on specific brandsas i run a brushless system.

Currently i am runing an Ezrun brushless 35a esc with a 920kV brushless outrunner motor

The ESC cost me about $50 delivered from ebay and the motor was some where between $30 - $40 from memory from ebay.
